Application to the
Occupational Medicine Residency Training Program

Please note: Applications are accepted by invitation only. Potential applicants interested in the Occupational Medicine Residency Training Program (OMRTP) must first submit a current curriculum vitae (CV) and statement of interest in occupational medicine to occmed@uc.edu for review by the program director.
General application requirements
Applicants must have completed a clinical year (PGY-1 or OGME-1) before admission to the OMRTP. The clinical year must have been completed with a program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME),American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or similarly-credentialed Canadian program. The recommended program areas are internal medicine, family medicine, or emergency medicine.
International graduates must take the TOEFL and general aptitude test of the GRE before applying. The minimum acceptable score for the TOEFL is 600 paper-based/250 computer-based, and for the GRE is 600 Verbal/600 Quantitative/4.5 A.W. If the GRE was taken prior to October 2003, 1800 is the minimum acceptable total score of the three tests.
The OMRTP does not participate in the traditional residency match program. The Program has a rolling admissions policy based on available positions.

· statement of personal goals and interest in Occupational Medicine
· reference letter from the applicant’s medical school dean
· transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate training
· current curriculum vitae
· USMLE or COMLEX –USA scores for steps/levels 1, 2, and 3
· completion of an ACOEM Occupational Physicians Scholarship Fund application (as requested)
All applications are initially reviewed by the program director. Selected applicants will be offered an interview with faculty members and current residents. Generally, 2-3 full-time residency positions are available each year. Part-time and one-year positions are also sometimes available. Residency positions generally begin on July 1st, but the Program offers flexible start time options.
